Wonderful image...
Graeme Hubbard: Many thanks, Ray. A favourite local lake.
A super shot Graeme, great light.
Graeme Hubbard: One of those golden sunsets and a handily placed subject.
OH! Brilliant!
Graeme Hubbard: The sunset light was magnificent. The egret was a real bonus.

There is something strange about the reflection of that bird. Is it partly obscured by a pole? Otherwise it is an excellent picture.
Graeme Hubbard: It does look very sharply defined, doesn't it. I hadn't noticed. It must be something to do with the water surface, I don't think there's a pole or anything there. We walk here regularly so I'll have a look in better light.
I suspect some clever trickery here Graeme
Graeme Hubbard: Absolutely no trickery. (Clever, technical trickery is way beyond my computer/camera skills, anyway.) Just a low, brightish sunset light, dark water and woodlands, and the fastest shutter speed I could get away with. And a bit of luck with the pose and position of the bird.
